Dear Colleagues,

Over the past few days, all of us have become aware of the devastation in Japan as a result of the earthquake and tsunami on Friday, 11 March.
We hope that everyone of you is alright.
The International Association of School Librarianship (IASL) stands in complete solidarity with the school library community in Japan. Our prayers and thoughts are with everyone affected by the disaster, and our heartfelt sympathies go out to those who have lost property and family members.
IASL is willing to assist in whatever way we can. Please let us know how we can help.
Thank you.

Dear Yumiko,

Glad to hear from you & learn you and your family are safe!
We have some children books and hope they can be given to those who are affected; at least as a bit of comforts to help the kids on the hard days. It seems like transportation (mailing service) is affected right now. But do let us know if you have an address (say Japan Society for Library, Information and Science) where the books can reach you. Maybe we can get some stuffed toys too. Let us know.

We are sorry for the loss of Japan & its people in the tragedy. I sincerely hope and believe this beautiful country &! amp; her people will soon rebuild the cities & villages. Do let me know if there is anything we can do.
Warmest regards,

Caroline

My heart aches for the Japanese people and the suffering there.

You are very brave people. I think those people working at the Nuclear Power Plant are heroes! We are all praying often for all that is going on. We want to help. As events unfold, we will seek ways to help the Japanese people to recover. So sorry.

Dear Yumiko San,

Our thoughts are with you during this crisis you and your countrymen are facing. But knowing the courage and hard work of the Japanese people we in India are sure that the present difficulties will be overcome.

I worked for 3 years at the Nagoya International school and I and my family had the best time there. Now I am at the American International School Chennai, India. We also have a small Japanese school here. We are planning to raise some funds for the Tsunami victims and give to the Japanese school and they will send it to the authorities in Japan.
